Blackpoint Threat Report
Project Details
The Project
Blackpoint Cyber’s first Annual Threat Report covers the threat landscape through the lens of its 24/7 Security Operations Center. The report is based primarily on Blackpoint’s own internal data, which has been interpreted and contextualized by the Adversary Pursuit Group (APG).
The report provides insight on what cyberthreats are most prominent and the threat actors behind them. It also provides guidance on how to stop these hacker tactics through harnessing Blackpoint’s expertise.
The Ask
Blackpoint wants to be seen as the go-to thought leader in the cybersecurity space, to do so the organization has to showcase its research and expert intelligence. The goal of Blackpoint’s Threat Report is not only to highlight their knowledge of the trade, but also to provide clients with an educational tool they can use to strengthen their security strategy and rise above the competition.
The Approach
It was imperative to showcase the data collected by APG in an effective layout, that allowed the reader to easily navigate the 50+ page report, while taking away the most important information.
As the Graphic Designer on this report, I collaborated with content writers and the threat research team to execute on the design to ensure it communicated effectively. Along with the the report, we also developed a responsive landing page and various promotional assets for both social and email distribution.
Report Design
Below you can find samples of the digital report’s layout, which I designed in entirety. Each page features a header with an interactive Table of Contents element that allows the reader to easily navigate from section to section.
The 50+ page report was provided as content document and through collaboration with our content team we identified ways we could break the content up visually to be more engaging, through call outs, sidebars, etc.
All report data was provided as spreadsheets, which I translated into charts and graphs to better represent the trends and insights.
Embracing AI
Cybersecurity can be a complex topic to translate, with thousands of acronyms and hundreds of threat actors names, it became clear that we could really make an impact on the reader through the use of unique visuals to stand out. By using Adobe Firefly, I was able to design an innovative on-brand graphic for each threat actor to make a lasting impression.
Designing Stylized Infographics
One of my favorite parts of being a designer is taking raw data and text and translating it into an engaging and captivating content. The APG team provided all report data as spreadsheets, and I created stylized charts and graphs to implement in the layout, allowing the reader to better understand the information they are reading.
Landing Page Design
In order to promote the report and provide lead generation, we also needed to create a landing page that showcased the value of the report. Collaborating with the content team, we chose to showcase parts of the report to give the prospective reader a glimpse into what they could gain from reading.
In order to create a unified experience, the landing page used elements from the report design and was also created to be responsive on mobile devices.
Marketing Promotion
Once we had the report and landing page created it was time to begin marketing promotions! I designed several assets for distribution on social, email and digital channels to engage our audience.
As Creative Director, I collaborated with the motion graphics artist on our team and provided direction on the animation content, sequence, and style to ensure it aligned with the report branding and other promotional assets.
